Who We Are

We’re all cut from the same cloth. Some of our needs are simple, like clean water, food and shelter. But as humans, we can’t help but yearn for more. There’s an innate desire to feel one’s life has meaning and importance. And when achieved, self-reliance can lead to a deeper sense of self-respect.

When volunteering in Peru I witnessed this need firsthand, in terms of both the people and the country as a whole. Severe flooding rocked the village, and it was difficult to see an already-fragile system that was also reliant on tourism take such a hit. I saw bad things happen to good people...people wanting to provide for their families and live a life filled with purpose.

After observing how drastically the flooding affected one of the people’s main sources of income, I began to wonder what I could do to help. Then, one night on the bus came the lightbulb moment. The Peruvian people were connected to the Earth, “Pacha,” in a way that my culture had forgotten. Plus, I’d taught hygiene and soap usage at local schools, and in handwashing clinics, some children didn’t know what a bar of soap was. I realized the need for soap and hygiene education could be met by locals, using minimal equipment and herbs & plants found in nature.

Instead of just giving, this was about empowering. This was about economic freedom and job skills. This was about providing people with the opportunity to discover their entrepreneurial spirit. And thus, Pacha Soap was born.

My wife, Abi, and I find our purpose in serving others, and we set out to help others craft a beautiful product. Pacha (rhymes with cha-cha) means "Earth" in Quechua, the language of the Peruvian people. Using ingredients from the earth and spreading love to people around the world, every purchase of Pacha you make helps fuel clean water initiatives and small-scale soap shops in developing countries.  These sustainable ventures provide much-needed water and sanitation resources to the people, while boosting the local economy within their own communities through the creation of livelihoods.

Plus, Pacha Soap is clean. This means it’s free of parabens, harsh surfactants, sulfates, propylene glycol, phthalates, petro-chemicals, dyes and anything else you may want to avoid. With scents like lavender, cinnamon, patchouli and rosewood, each bar is handcrafted, all-natural and environmentally sustainable.

So pick your favorites and enjoy. Then enjoy them a little more, knowing your purchase has global impact.

I was born and raised in Northwest Kansas along with my two brothers and sister. We siblings were raised in an old farmhouse 15 miles from Atwood, KS and were given an expanse of land on which to grow and learn.

My father, a mason, taught me craftsmanship and hard work from a young age while my mother, a newspaper editor, taught me the value of freethinking and of creativity.

I was inspired to form Pacha Soap after my time in Peru where I lived, worked, learned, and developed friendships with the people there. I launched the operation from my college apartment and my goal from that time forward has been to help start social enterprises in developing nations around the world while producing a purposeful product.

My best friend Abi and I started our friendship around good conversation and creating during the early stages of the company. She made paper and I made soap, so it was a natural fit. We married in 2013 and I am grateful to spend the rest of my life with her.

I enjoy camping, traveling, coffee, animals, creating, conversation, reading, music, family and friends.

Here are a few facts about me: I am an Eagle Scout, I hope to work at a coffee shop someday, and I’m convinced that scent is one of the strongest senses.

I have always enjoyed creating. During my childhood, my mother will tell you I was mostly creating messes. As Pacha’s head designer, I get to create everyday. Whether I am crafting words or designing a new packaging idea, I feel very blessed to be a part of a company where I can use my talents and where I look forward to doing my work. I work with a great group of people, my husband, Andrew is probably my favorite though ;) Together, Andrew and I started Pacha to be a company that does good, as well as provides a good product. It is my joy and pleasure to continually strive for this goal!

In my spare time, I love doing origami, playing games with my family, watching movies and eating spaghetti! My favorite Pacha Soap bar is Loverly!

We walk the dogs daily on any trail that gets us out of town. I love to travel and have a goal to visit all 50 states. Greece and Cuba are highest on my international travel list.
I’m so excited to be part of a company that gives back and helps make the world a better place! My favorite Pacha soaps are Coconut Milk and Almond Goat’s Milk.

I grew up in the little town of Shickley, Nebraska, where everyone knows everyone, and you can always leave your keys in the ignition. I just recently graduated from Hastings College, where I studied Advertising/Public Relations and Visual Media.

I enjoy board games, iced coffee, spending time with my family, and watching “The Office” with a big bowl of ice cream. I have a love for all things design and could spend hours Pinteresting different typefaces and color combinations.

I am so excited to be starting the next stage of my life here at Pacha where I get to be apart of an organization that helps people around the world, work alongside great people, and always smell like a wonderful bar of soap.

I have lived many places (St. Louis, MO, Valparaiso, IN,  Idaho Falls, ID, Cambridge UK) and followed many career paths (public relations account executive, stay-at-home-mom, high school English teacher), but have called Hastings home since 2001 and am pleased to start a new chapter at Pacha packaging and shipping soap.  The buy-one-give-one model is inspiring, my fellow Mamas and Papas are delightful, and I leave work smelling awesome.

When I’m not sending soap out to the masses, I can be found hanging out with my husband and kids, working as an adjunct professor in the Hastings College Teacher Education Department, reading a novel, writing songs, playing guitar, or singing my heart out on stage, at church, or in the shower.

I am from Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and no it’s not a farm town. It’s a suburb just south of Denver so naturally I cheer for everything Denver. I graduated from Hastings College (also the Broncos) with my degree in Accounting.

I love to host get-togethers and parties with my friends where we can play games on games on games while enjoying new recipes I find in my Grandmother’s old cookbooks. Cheering on the Rockies, Broncos, Nuggets, and Michigan Wolverines take up a large portion of my free time.

I’m eager to hop on board the Pacha train and see where this company can go! If anything, they will be able to stay afloat with my purchases of my favorite bar, Clarifying Charcoal.

Hello everyone! I am originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma and relocated to Hastings, Nebraska in 2013 to attended Hastings College.  There, I studied Art History and Studio Art with an emphasis in glass art.  I love my hands on production job at Pacha…I am at home when I am creatively messy….and at Pacha, I get to make a “clean mess” everyday that helps people around the world!  I have my own little zoo at home with two dogs, Charlie and Marv, and my bobtail cat Olive.  I enjoy walking with the animals around the park, cooking, 1000 piece puzzles, antiquing, and even the occasional embroidery project! My favorite Pacha soap changes on a regular basis depending on what is in my shower!

I was born in North Platte, Nebraska and raised on a ranch. There is nothing better than growing up in the Sandhills. I can honestly say my childhood was the best, even in the small town of Thedford.  I’m the youngest of two older brothers, one of which is an Identical Twin. Some of you already know him by Colin.

I really enjoy traveling over seas. You can say its a hobby of mine! I’ve traveled to Australia for a couple months touring across the country and site seeing. I’ve also been to Europe twice, once on a European Concert Tour back in 2003, called Nebraska Ambassadors of Music. During that time, we were in England, France, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Italy, and Germany. While the other time was with the family visiting our exchange student from Germany. Even took a cruise to the Bahamas. Who knows where my next trip will take me?

I also like going to the rec center, spending time on the beach, snorkeling, hanging out with friends, listening to music, photography, on occasion throw parties, and watching the Olympics.

I am thrilled to be a part of the Pacha team and work for company with a mission that makes a difference around the world. Can’t wait to see where this new chapter will take me! My favorite Pacha Soap blend depends on which I’m holding at the moment. Haven’t really narrowed it down to one yet. But my top three would be, Almond Goat’s Milk, Cassia Spearmint, and Coconut Milk.

Hi my name is Sarah and if life is a stage, then I’ve been living right!  I grew up doing plays and musicals and generally entertaining any church, school, or community that had a stage.

I first came to HASTINGS for college and studied English and Theatre.  Life has spun through many different jobs and places.  I’ve barista-d in Nebraska, managed a playhouse in New York, and taught in China among other things. Through all of it, I’ve loved getting to know many interesting and compassionate people from all over the world with all types of backgrounds. For my next act, I’m excited to join pacha soap and work with these inspiring and helpful people.  I can’t wait to see what new experiences this work and this organization will bring my way.

I keep actively engaged with the theater community here and love to write, direct, and play. And my favorite Pacha Soap blend is Patchouli Mint! Here’s hoping for a soap themed musical with laughs galore and a big heart in our near future.

Most would describe me as blonde, super tall, and a lover of all things rodeo/horses. Originally from eastern Nebraska, I have lived all over the state and just returned from a stint in Texas. From my travels, I learned to appreciate the sound of “Go Big Red” on football Saturday, home cooked meals, and fellowship with friends and family. When not working with the Pacha Team, you can find me horseback riding, Netflix binging, or enjoying chips and queso with friends. To pick one Pacha blend as my favorite would be an injustice. My only suggestion is to try them all!

I was born here in Hastings, Nebraska, raised in Glenvil, and moved to Fairfield in Jr. High. I graduated high school at Sandy Creek high school in 2012. I have always been into art and music. I went to college originally to be an art teacher, and then changed my major to Drafting and Design. I graduated from Central Community College with my Mechanical Drafting Degree in 2016.

I enjoy running and exercise, long boarding, skateboarding, drawing, painting, designing and creating things, inspirational movies and people. My mom always tells me I wear my heart on my sleeve, but that is who i am. I enjoy deep intellectual conversations about people, society, and life in general. I am that person that would give the shirt off their back if you needed it, and I have a habit of only seeing the good in people. I believe my life’s mission is to help people, show them the small things in life, and a different way to look at things when there down in the dumps.

I am unbelievably grateful to be apart of this great group of people at Pacha Soap. I wake up everyday and go to work knowing that i can make a difference, such an inspirational place and group of people!
